Call A Neighbor (CaN) is a B2B web-based product used internally by Neighborly Associates and Neighborly Brand Franchise Owners to create franchise profiles and track inbound/outbound calls and work appointments.
The CaN calendar is a critical tool used by Client Integration Specialists and Customer Engagement Specialists to schedule and manage key activities for franchise clients whose Point-of-Sale systems do not have built-in calendar functionality.
The existing calendar interface was crowded with underutilized features and lacked a clear hierarchy. Franchise owners struggled to:
This resulted in slower scheduling workflows and increased reliance on support.
Simplify, Simplify, Simplify. We heard the phrase “too many” from user feedback too many times to let it go ignored.
Our goal was to deliver a simplified, scalable calendar experience with reduced visual clutter and improved scheduling efficiency.

“I want to see all my calendars at once so I can tell at-a-glance which one I need to access.”
“The screen feels so crowded, I don’t even know where to begin.”
“There are too many icons and too many things I could accidentally click.”
We introduced a centralized dashboard that allows franchise owners to:
The calendar view was redesigned to:
Time-slot creation and setup were simplified by:
A cleaner, scalable calendar experience designed to help franchise owners schedule faster, manage multiple locations with confidence, and focus on running their business—not wrestling with software.
1. You don’t have to change everything to improve UX
Sometimes, certain core elements need to stay the same to avoid unintentionally creating a higher learning curve. In this case, we had to keep the appointment slot cards on the calendar relatively similar to the original experience, but updating the UI and making small changes here and there still made it look sleeker without comprising its purpose.
2. Listen to your users
We had a lot of ideas with this redesign, but ultimately the users wanted us to focus most on simplifying the calendar interface and scheduling workflows. They were helpful in reminding us the key pain points, which allowed us to stay focus and push the redesign forward.
